Bear Foot Sports invites you to be
part of the 6th Annual Hilton Head Island Half Marathon & 10K on Saturday,
February 9th at 8:00am.
The 2008
Hilton Head Island Half Marathon Is very scenic and features: Jarvis Creek Park and Broad Creek. It's
fast and flat with a slight incline at the bridge over the Broad Creek, which
is about a 1 mile span and is done twice.
Course... Start at Jarvis Creek Park and
take participants down Natures Way and Pembroke Rd and back. At the corner of
Pembroke Rd & Natures Way the course will turn left back towards Jarvis
Creek Park It will then enter the bike run thru Jarvis Creek Park to enter
Cross Island Parkway behind the park thru back gate.
Once on the Cross
Island Pkwy participants will head towards Palmetto Bay Rd and exit Cross
Island Pkwy prior to plaza on the Marshland Rd Entrance Ramp, cross Marshland
Road and head on Rd until bike path and back onto Cross Island Pkwy, avoiding
toll plaza towards Bay Pines Rd.
At the corner of Palmetto Bay Rd and
Bay Pines the course will turn left towards Crossings Park and enter Powerline
Rd on left just past Crossings Park which runs parallel to Arrow Rd. At the end
of Powerline Rd the course will turn left onto Arrow Rd heading towards
Dunagans Alley.
At Dunagans Alley the course will turn around and
return on the same route via Arrow Rd, Powerline Rd and Cross Island Pkwy
around toll plaza via bike path and back up Marshland Rd Entrance Ramp on Cross
Island Pkwy thru a gate at the back side of Jarvis Creek Park to finish line.
The Hilton Head Half Marathon will feature all standard male and
female divisions including , men's clydesdale and women's filly divisions, as
well as a senior division. Cash & prizes ( $100, $50, $25 ) will be
presented to the top three overall male, male master¹s, female and female
master¹s finishers. Additionally, the top three in each age category will
also receive unique awards. ( Course will close in 3 hours - walkers please participate in 10K or 5K only )
The 10K Run/Health Walk will feature limited
divisions, cash & prizes ( $50, $35, $25 ) will be awarded for the top
three male and female overall finishers. The top three in each age category
will also receive unique awards.

This year's Hilton Head Island Half
Marathon & 10K will benefit Strive to Excel and The Hilton Head
Island Children's Memorial Garden. In just 5 years the event has donated
over $8,500 to area charities, and in 2008 we look forward to increasing our
total.
The first 1200 participants will receive a colorful long sleeve
T-shirt. An awards ceremony featuring refreshments, live music, food, and door
prizes will be held following the race.
