ACUPUNCTURE CAN HELP MANAGE ANXIETIES
By Mickey Vos

Acupuncture, the 5,000-year-old Chinese Healing art, can help manage your stress and anxieties. Most commonly, the perception is that acupuncture only relieves physical pains in the neck, back, sciatica, headache, with allergies, sinus and others. But acupuncture also can be administered safely and conveniently to treat stress and anxieties associated with the pressure situtations. Acupuncture is a holistic healing form. When you visit an acupuncturist for treatment, the acupuncturist evaluates the entire body mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally during the initial treatment. The patient is asked a series of questions to determine his or her physical and emotional condition and present state of stress. The selection of words and phrases used, the patient’s demeanor and manner and emotional conduct while responding are observed closely. The question and answer dialogue is most important in establishing exactly what problems need specific attention during the acupuncture treatment.

Regular treatments
Acupuncture is most effective when accomplished during a consecutive series of regular weekly treatment. I sincerely attempt to create a healthy physical and emotional transformation in my patients’ overall state of health while performing a series of 10 to 15 treatments spanning a five to eight week period. Often, the patient will gain positive results after the first one hour treatment in the series. However, the duration of this early relief is normally limited initially. After each follow-up treatment in the series, the duration of the relief is progressively extended until an actual energy transformation occurs within the patient’s bodily energy channels and the pains, stress, negative emotions and anxieties are relieved.

Positive feedback
I’ve successfully treated thousands of people in my 13 years of practice. Of all the positive feedback and comments I receive from patients, the comment I hear most often besides the many positive remarks regarding a pain-free life is their account of also living with a more positive attitude, without the negative emotions, with less stress and fewer anxieties. Mickey Vos has been a national board-certified acupuncturist since 1987.
